Film Hub London

The Film Hub London serves exhibitors across the 32 boroughs of Greater London

Film London manages Film Hub London as the Film Hub Lead Organisation for the BFI Film Audience Network in Greater London. Thanks to National Lottery funding, it works with film exhibitors of all types across the capital to build new audiences for independent UK and international film, supporting them with funding opportunities as well as training, advice and networking opportunities.  Film Hub London works to make cinema more accessible and better reflect London’s diverse communities, particularly in areas outside central London.

They also make more of a strategic intervention in specific boroughs that currently have little cultural cinema infrastructure through the Spotlight programme.

Support

Project support is available to members through the Film Exhibition Fund (FEF), supporting in-person screening events that bring audiences together for a communal viewing experience creating opportunities to develop inclusive audiences for a broad range of independent UK and international film, screen heritage and the wider moving image. Film Hub London are especially interested in project proposals representing disabled audiences, young audiences, Black and Global Majority audiences, working-class audiences and projects that break down economic barriers.

Training

Members can apply for training, accommodation and travel bursaries throughout the year to assist staff and volunteers to enhance their professional development for the benefit of themselves and their organisations with the ultimate aim of boosting and diversifying audiences.

Exhibitors’ Breakfasts

Film Hub London’s Exhibitors’ Breakfasts provide an excellent opportunity for members to network, share best practice and lessons learned and explore ways in which they can work together to broaden their reach and engage audiences.

These Breakfasts have helped build strong partnerships: venues have brought in new festivals, exhibitors have forged collaborations, and mentoring relationships have developed.

Alongside the opportunity to talk and collaborate, the Breakfasts offer presentations on key issues affecting the sector.

UK-wide BFI FAN Role

On behalf of the wider BFI Film Audience Network, Film Hub London is the BFI FAN Young Audiences Champion.

Developing young audiences for independent UK and international film plays a key role in the BFI’s Screen Culture 2033 strategy and the future of the British film industry. Film Hub London champions young audiences, including families as part of this strategy. They aim to increase the number of under 25-year-olds watching fantastic films in BFI FAN member venues, boost confidence in exhibitors in programming for these age groups and expand the number of opportunities for under 25-year-olds (young adults, children and families) to engage with a wide range of films.
